The Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph has described the signing of the dumped All Blacks winger Hosea Gear as a "huge score" for the Dunedin-based franchise.
Gear, the fifth recent All Black to leave the Hurricanes since the end of the Super rugby season, has formed a close relationship with Jamie Joseph, and he says he particularly enjoyed the team environment with the New Zealand Maori team under Joseph last year.
27 year old Gear has signed for the Highlanders for 2012 and for the NZ Union for a further two years.
