England captain to miss Cup opener

England's rugby captain Lewis Moody has been ruled out of their opening World Cup match against Argentina on Saturday because of a knee injury.

Moody suffered the injury a month ago in a warm-up match against Wales, and manager Martin Johnson made the call to leave him out this weekend, on the advice of medical staff.

James Haskell is expected to replace him as the openside flanker, and Mike Tindall will probably take over the captaincy, but the team won't be announced until Thursday.
