Highlanders bring back old jersey

The Highlanders have dropped plans to introduce a controversial new green strip next season, opting instead to retain the predominantly blue one for next year's Super Rugby season.

However Highlanders chief executive Roger Clark says the green strip will be used as their away colours.

The new strip was worn against the Western Force in the final Super rugby match at Carrisbrook in May but was roundly criticised.

Clark says the Highlanders will now carry out a consulatation process to help design a new strip for the 2013 season.

He says the franchise believes there's a need to freshen the brand but what shape that will take will be influenced by the consultation process, which will be carried out by the University of Otago.
