The veteran Springbok lock Bakkies Botha has all but been ruled out of their opening World Cup match against Wales in Wellington on Sunday.
Botha's achilles injury has been described as a concern and he may infact miss the first part of the tournament.
Boks assistant coach Dick Muir says Botha is still unable to run fully.
Muir says the injury situation for Victor Matfield, Schalk Burger and Bryan Habana have all improved.
The Springbok and Wales teams are named tomorrow.
