The England lock Courtney Lawes could become the first player suspended at the Rugby World Cup, having been cited after crashing into Argentina hooker Mario Ledesma with his knee during Saturday's World Cup pool game in Dunedin.

The incident appeared to leave the Ledesma unconscious for several seconds but he got up and continued playing in the match that England went on to win.

There's no date yet for the hearing, although world cup rules state the hearing should take place within 48 hours of the match.

If found guilty Lawes could face a ban ranging from a few days to several months.
