Ireland upset Australia at world cup

5:56 am on 18 September 2011

The Ireland rugby side has produced the first major upset of the World Cup with a 15-6 victory over Australia at Eden Park last night..

The win is Ireland's first victory over Australia in five attempts at World Cups.

Irish skipper Brian O'Driscoll praised the huge support from the over 58,000 strong crowd saying the team thought they were in Dublin

The loss provides Australia with a grim path after pool play with a likely quarterfinal against defending champions South Africa with, if they get through that, the All Blacks prospectively waiting in the semi-finals.
