The Brisbane Broncos, including their injured skipper Darren Lockyer, flew to Sydney on Tuesday but in different aircraft ahead of Friday night's National Rugby League preliminary final against Manly.

After Lockyer attended his first training run at home since surgery last Sunday on his fractured cheekbone, he boarded a helicopter, on medical advice, for a low altitude flight to Sydney, while the rest of the team took a commercial flight.

A final decision on Lockyer's involvement in Friday night's game is expected to be made after a contact training session on Wednesday, but its understood the club won't leave it solely to the player.
