Olazabal disappointed with Major winners

The captain of Europe's Ryder Cup golf team Jose Maria Olazabal has criticised the likes of major champions Rory McIlroy, Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell for not making the effort to compete in the Seve Trophy.

Olazabal was in France overseeing the biennial tournament won by Great Britain and Ireland beating a Continental Europe team.

Several of Europe's leading players elected to skip the competition and Olazabal says the next tournament in 2013 would be moved to a timeslot that would ensure players would have no excuse to miss the event.

Olazabal says the players at the Seve Trophy had played out of respect for the late five-time major winner Seve Ballesteros, who died in May after a long battle with cancer.

Olazabal says while some of the younger players never had to the chance to play with Ballesteros they should have made a little extra effort to compete at the event.
