Freediver Trubridge defends world title

New Zealand freediver Will Trubridge has easily defended his title at the World Championships on the first competition day in Greece.

The current world record holder with a 101-metre dive, won the Constant Weight Without Fins discipline with an easy dive by his standards off Kalamata.

Trubridge successfully reached his target depth of 93 metres to finish ahead of the Czech Republic's Michal Risian and France's Morgan Bour'chis, who completed depths of 84 metres and 80 metres respectively.

Czech diver Alena Zabloudilova won the women's championship.
