Kiwi cyclist happy with top-20 finish at World Champs

New Zealand rider Jack Bauer says he's pleased with his top-20 finish in a stellar field in the men's time trial at the UCI Road World Championships in Copenhagen.

Fellow New Zealand cyclist Jesse Sergent was 18th-fastest while Bauer was one spot behind, crossing the line at just over 58 minutes.

Bauer says he's pleased with his performance given the technical nature of the course and strong winds.

Bauer says his success on the roads this year had come in shorter events which forced a re-evaluation of his goals for the time trial.

He says he feels good ahead of the men's elite road race on Monday where he will ride in support of kiwi sprinters Julian Dean and Greg Henderson.
