Rooney out with hamstring injury

England football striker Wayne Rooney could be out of action for several weeks after injuring his hamstring in training.

Rooney didn't play turn out for Manchester United when they dropped their first points of the Premier League season, scoring a one-all draw with Stoke City.

United manager Alex Ferguson says it's not a serious injury but could be enough to keep Rooney out for a few weeks.

If that's the case Rooney will miss United's Champions League match with Basel at Old Trafford midweek and possibly England's Euro 2012 qualifier in Montenegro Friday week.

He could also miss United's upcoming league matches against Norwich City and Liverpool and possibly the Manchester derby against City on October 23rd, as well as the Champions League match against Otelul Galati of Romania on October 18th.

Rooney, who has started the season in outstanding form with nine goals, missed Sunday's match but United stay top of the Premier League on goal difference from Manchester City.
