Unprecedented demand for 2012 Paralympics

Organisers of the London Olympics say demand for tickets for next year's Paralympic Games has been unprecedented and many of the sessions will have to go to a ballot.

London 2012 chief executive Paul Deighton says the public response had been exceptional and they've sold hundreds of thousands of tickets.

Deighton attributes the demand, for an event that starts once the Olympics are over, to a side-effect of all the Olympic events at the showcase venues being sold out, as well as people wanting to continue the celebrations and visiting the venues.

He says the roots of the Paralympic movement trace back to the UK and there's much more interest being shown than is typically the case.
