Manchester City have suspended striker Carlos Tevez for up to two weeks a day after manager Roberto Mancini said the footballer refused to come on as a substitute in their Champions League match at Bayern Munich.

The club said on its website that the Argentine's suspension is pending a full review into his alleged conduct during the 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old striker has blamed his failure to appear on "confusion" on the City bench and apologised to the club's fans for "any misunderstanding."
