7:12 am on 5 October 2011

Pakistan cricketers Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif went on trial in London yesterday accused of taking bribes to fix parts of matches against England last year.

Former captain Butt and opening bowler Asif are accused of spot-fixing by rigging incidents during the 2010 test series.

Prosecutors allege no-balls were bowled at pre-agreed times during the game.

The pair deny charges of conspiracy to accept payments and conspiracy to cheat.
