Manly player to contest charge after grand final citing

7:00 am on 7 October 2011

The Manly front-rower George Rose will interrupt his Premiership celebrations to go before the National Rugby League judiciary and dispute the grading of his striking charge from the grand final.

Rose was put on report for thrusting his forearm into the face of the tackled Warriors hooker Aaron Heremaia during the first-half of the Sea Eagles' 24-10 title win on Sunday.

If he fails in his appeal he will miss the opening two games of next year's NRL competition.

Heremaia was also placed on report for a high tackle but entered an early guilty plea and will not miss any matches.
