Goalline technology further delayed by FA

Plans to introduce goalline technology in English football's Premier League next season will be delayed for at least a year.

The Premier League had hoped to be the first major league in the world to use technology but the general secretary of the English FA Alex Horne says tests involving the accuracy of various systems would not be completed in time and 2013-14 would be a more realistic starting date.

FIFA is testing eight or nine systems and all could eventually be sanctioned, and FIFA's president Sepp Blatter has said he expects the tests to be completed in time for any approved system to be used in time for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.
