The coach of the NationaL Rugby League Premiers is leaving Manly to coach the Bulldogs after next season.
Des Hasler says a bigger pay packet wasn't behind his move and he was offered more money to stay at the Sea Eagles, but is instead leaving to take up a new challenge.
The inability to see eye-to-eye with the Manly board was the main reason for his decision to join the Bulldogs.
The two-time Premiership-winning coach has agreed a four-year deal, with Jim Dymock holding the reins during the 2012 campaign before becoming assistant coach under Hasler.
Hasler's appointment will end a long association with Manly, who he joined as a player in 1984 before taking over as coach in 2004.
The 50-year-old led the team to Premierships in 2008 and 2011 and will remain at Brookvale next season.
Dymock replaced Kevin Moore, who was sacked in August, and led the team to five wins in eight games at the end of the 2011 campaign.
