Black Caviar wins again

Top Australian sprinter Black Caviar has won her 14th consecutive race with victory in the Schillaci Stakes at Melbourne's Caulfield race course to match the 80-year-old record of iconic thoroughbred Phar Lap.

The five-year-old mare, rated among the world's top sprinters, romped to a four and a quarter-length victory in the 1,000 metres sprint at virtually unbackable odds as tens of thousands of spectators roared on.

The Peter Moody-trained Black Caviar won her first start as a two-year-old in Melbourne and remains undefeated but has yet to be tested in the rich sprints of the northern hemisphere.

Connections are eager to take Black Caviar to Royal Ascot next June, according to local media, and Moody hinted the mare could be headed overseas following Australia's lucrative Spring Carnival.
