Perth smash Adelaide, Cairns beat Townsville

A best-on-court comeback from Shawn Redhage allowed Perth to smash Adelaide 102-69 in their National Basketball League clash at Adelaide Arena on Saturday.

Perth led by 14 points at half time before unleashing a 15-1 run mid-way through the third quarter to leave the home side shell-shocked and effectively out of the contest.

It was during this purple patch that Redhage showed he has lost little in nine months on the sidelines.

The 30-year-old Wildcats co-captain, who went down with a serious hip injury on the same court last January, finished with 26 points including half a dozen effortless three-pointers.

A second-half masterclass from Cairns' import Jamar Wilson has given his new club the perfect start to the NBL season, the Taipans scoring an 81-76 win over local rivals Townsville at the Cairns Convention Centre.

Wilson, a star for Honka in Finland in his last season, finished with 23 points in a dream debut - including 19 in the last two quarters as the Taipans took the spoils over the Crocodiles in a repeat of last season's semi-final series.
