A hotdog-flinging spectator has failed to deter Tiger Woods as he completed his first golf tournament in almost two months.

Woods was lining up a six metre birdie putt on his 16th hole during his final round when the man ran to the edge of the green at CordeValle Golf Club shouting, Tiger, Tiger before throwing the hot dog.

The tournament's head of security the says closest the man got to Woods was 12 metres and after throwing the hot dog, immediately fell to the ground and was arrested and taken from the course.

Woods says the first he knew of the commotion was when he turned around and saw the hot dog in the air.

India's Arjun Atwal, who played with Woods in the final round, described the incident as one of the most bizarre he had seen on a golf course and says the offender was lucky he wasn't shot.

Woods finished at seven under par and in a tie for 30th.
