The champion Sydney league club Manly have announced that Geoff Toovey will take over from Des Hasler as Sea Eagles coach from the start of the 2013 NRL season.

Toovey, who played 286 games for Manly and led them to the 1996 premiership, has been Hasler's assistant since 2004.

Hasler is expected to spend one more season at Brookvale, despite speculation at the North Sydney club that he might be forced to depart immediately after accepting a four year contract from the Canterbury Bulldogs believed to be worth nearly 4-million dollars.
