Cricket: Australian vice captain shocked by corruption allegations

7:25 am on 12 October 2011

The Australian vice captain Shane Watson has described claims made in a London court that Australian cricketers were "the biggest" match-fixers as "shocking".

Watson says the allegations, made by Pakistani player agent Mazhar Majeed, damaged the integrity of the sport and could lead to fans questioning unexpected events in matches.

Watson says it was disappointing that players' reputations were being brought into question.

The allegations have been widely dismissed by the cricket community, including Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland who described them as "baseless and outlandish".
