Cricket Australia has hit back at allegations that its players are involved in match-fixing, saying the claims made by a sports agent are "baseless and outlandish".
At the trial of three Pakistani cricketers in London, the court heard sports agent Mazhar Majeed, saying that Australian cricketers were "the biggest" culprits of fixing.
Agent Majeed, who's accused of taking bribes to fix matches, told an undercover journalist that match-fixing had been going on "for centuries" and named celebrated former Pakistan fast-bowlers Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis as alleged participants.
Cricket Australia Chief Executive James Sutherland told reporters that the allegations are ridiculous and that the sweeping statements unfairly malign Australian cricketers.
Sutherland says the world governing body of the sport has a sophisticated anti-corruption unit and he would have been tipped off by the ICC if an Australian cricketer was on the radar.
Sutherland says they will make contact with the ICC and would investigate a player if any credible evidence is uncovered.
