Southee out of Zimbabwe Test

The New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee will miss next month's one-off cricket Test against Zimbabwe, having failed to recover from a knee injury.

Southee suffered cartilage damage to his left knee while preparing to play for Chennai in the Champions League.

It also kept him out of the Twenty20 and One day squad for Zimbabwe but the selectors named him in the Test squad.

The national selector manager Kim Littlejohn says scans show while the injury is improving Southee hasn't completely recovered.

Southee expected to be available for December's Test series against Australia.

He's been replaced in the Test squad by Northern Districts bowler Graeme Aldridge, who is already in Zimbabwe for the T20 and one day games.
