The champion New Zealand Breakers have continued their winning start to the Australian basketball season by thrashing the Kings 98-61 in Sydney to go three from three on the road.
A huge first half saw the Breakers up 49-22 and the Auckland-based side never looked like losing as they sent a message to the rest of the league with an all-round attacking and defensive format.
The Breakers led 72-40 heading into the last quarter as they inflicted the biggest home loss ever on the Kings in front of 5,562 disappointed Sydney fans, who turned up to support the Kings' first home game of the season.
The match statistics revealed the superiority of the Breakers, who restricted the Kings to only 21 successful shots from 66 attempts and stopped their attack with 25 defensive rebounds.
New Zealand shot 52 per cent from the floor, with the Kings managing just 27 per cent.
Daryl Corletto and Alex Pledger were best for the Breakers with 16 points each, while Aaron Bruce led the Kings with 13 points.
It's the third largest winning margin in the club's history and the biggest on the road while the 61 points conceded is also the third best defensive effort in the club's history.
