The European golf tour is saluting a new star - Tom Lewis - after his victory in this morning's Portugal Masters.

The 20 year old Englishman, who stunned the golfing world as an amateur when he led July's British Open with an opening round of 65, shot the same score on the Algarve overnight to win the Portugese event by two strokes, after starting the final day four strokes from the lead.

Lewis's achievement of winning third time out as a professional equalled the 2007 feat of world number three and U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy.

Tiger Woods won his fifth professional tournament.
