The New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic has won her second career WTA doubles title after she and her Russian partner Elena Vesnina beat German's Julia Goerges and Anna-Lena Groenefeld 7-5 6-1 in the final of the WTA Linz Open in Austria.

It was Erakovic's second WTA doubles final this year, after reaching the final of the Auckland Classic in January.

It was also the New Zealanders first WTA title since her maiden victory at the Pattaya Open in Thailand back in February 2010.

The fourth seeds struggled through the first part of the match before breaking the German pair once to take the first set seven games to five.

However Erakovic and Vesnina accelerated away in the second set racing to a 6-1 victory taking the title in just under an hour an a quarter.

Erakovic is playing in the Luxembourg Open this week.

She was second seed in the singles qualifying and received a bye in the first round.

However the New Zealander was unable to make the second round scheduled for Sunday due to the doubles final and was forced to default her match against Luxembourg's Yulia Putintseva.

Erakovic is in the doubles main draw with Romanian partner Monica Niculescu.

The pair face Spain's Silvia Soler-Espinosa and Carla Suarez Navarro in the first round.
