Darren Lockyer played down the high shot on his surgically-repaired face by New Zealand rugby league prop Russell Packer following the Kangaroos 42-6 win over the Kiwi's in Newcastle.
Lockyer was superb in his final performance on Australian soil, having a hand in three of his side's seven tries, before being rested by coach Tim Sheens 15 minutes from time, to keep him fresh for the Four Nations opener in Warrington between the sides on October the 28th.
Packer's first act as international player was to be placed on report by English referee Phil Bentham for a forearm shot on Lockyer in the opening set of the game.
The game continued for around three minutes before Bentham acted, following information relayed to him by the video referee.
The 34-year-old Lockyer has spent the last month recovering from a smashed cheekbone sustained in Brisbane's win over St George Illawarra, but says he felt the shot was unintentional.
Packer will learn his fate from the international rugby league judiciary today, but Lockyer refused to put the boot into the Warriors front-rower.
