Blatter set for U-turn over FIFA bribes probe

12:12 pm on 19 October 2011

The president of FIFA Sepp Blatter has had a sudden change of heart and will call for the release of documents which could reveal senior officials of footballs governing body were paid bribes.

There have been ongoing allegations that kick backs were paid in return for the granting of television and sponsorship rights during the 1990s.

FIFA has repeatedly blocked attempts by journalists to have the documents released.

But according to the BBC, Blatter will push for the publication of the papers at a crucial two-day meeting of the committee starting tomorrow night in Zurich.
