Adam Thomson still hoping he'll be fit for final

The All Black loose forward Adam Thomson's hoping he'll recover from his ankle injury in time for Sunday's Rugby World Cup final against France in Auckland after having to watch the knockout matches from the new south stand at Eden Park.

Thomson also injured an elbow in the Tri Nations loss to Australia in Brisbane and he says it's been frustrating missing games in the latter stages of a tournament that's meant to be the highlight if his career.

But if he's fit Thomson's likely to be the preferred loose forward, ahead of Victor Vito, and he's optimistic about his chances of making the squad, which will be named on Friday morning.
