Indycar drivers in good testing form

6:13 am on 21 October 2011

The three IndyCar drivers involved in this weekend's Gold Coast 600 were in good testing form soon after their arrivals in Queensland, just two days after the death of their close friend Dan Wheldon.

The Australian Ryan Briscoe headed straight from the airport to the testing track in Ipswich and ended the session with his co-driver Garth Tander in second place behind the favourite combination for this weekend's event Jamie Whincup and the four-time Champ Car world series champion Sebastien Bourdais.

Helio Castroneves and Alex Tagliani also impressed despite their whirlwind arrival into Australia.

Organisers have decided the best-performed international driver on the Gold Coast this weekend will receive the Dan Wheldon Memorial Trophy.
