NBA club owners and players in talks

11:32 am on 20 October 2011

NBA club owners and locked-out players have resumed talks to end the 11-day shutdown over money issues with more games in the American basketball league likely to be called off should they fail to reach a deal.

Eight hours after ending a 16-hour marathon session both sides returned to the bargaining table with federal mediator George Cohen.

No one from either side would comment but the fact they were talking at all and for so long was seen as a hopeful sign by those fearful the NBA might lose an entire season.

The first two weeks of the NBA schedule have already been cancelled and more games will be lost if the talks don't make progress.

Billionaire owners and multi-millionaire players are arguing over how to divide what had been nearly $5.5 billion in annual revenues.
