The All Blacks assistant coach Steve Hansen says the mindset of the team was at the core of their winning the Rugby World Cup.

The Cup hosts endured an inspired performance by France to win 8-7 in the final at Eden park and lift the Webb Elllis trophy for the first time in 24 years.

One time All Blacks outcast Stephen Donald kicked the penalty that in the end made the difference.

He was fishing on the Waikato river when he was called in to shore up the first five stocks and Hansen says Donald noticed straight away the team was focused.

Hansen says Donald also got awept up in the belief exuding from the team.
