NRL and clubs still at loggerheads

The National Rugby League and clubs remain at loggerheads after three meetings in Sydney failed to resolve the clubs' stand-off over demands for extra funding.

The 16 NRL clubs are seeking an additional half a million dollars per club next year and they also want a $1.6 million advance payment on the next TV rights deal which is yet to be negotiated.

The Australian Rugby League has supported its chairman's assertion that the clubs' demands for increased funding are both reasonable and affordable.

The clubs threatened not to sign their licensing agreements, which expire at the end of this month, if their demands are not met.
