The St. Louis Cardinals have won Major League Baseball's World Series with a dominant 6-2 victory over the Texas Rangers in the seventh and deciding game in St. Louis.

The Cardinals completed one of the most extraordinary comebacks in World Series history, scraping into the playoffs on the last day of the regular season then twice coming back from the brink of defeat in a heartstopping sixth game before sealing it at home today.

It's the Cardinals' 11th World Series title, second only to the New York Yankees, and their first in five years.

The 28-year-old third baseman David Freese was named the most valuable player of the World Series.
