The John Mitchell-coached Golden Lions have won South African rugby's Currie Cup final at their Ellis Park home for the first time in 61 years.
Lions five-eighth Elton Jantjies kicked 24 points in a 42-16 triumph over defending champions, the John Plumtree-coached Sharks.
Mitchell and Plumtree were born one year apart in Hawera.
Sharks halfback and former French international Frederic Michalak finished the Currie Cup season as leading scorer with 192 points - four more than Jantjies - after kicking three penalties and converting a try.
