New Zealander Kate McIlroy has finished third in the gruelling Noosa Triathlon, which local Melissa Rollison won before needing medical attention.
Rollison, a former steeplechase star, crossed the finish line first in a time of two hours and 25 seconds in hot, steamy conditions on the Sunshine Coast.
Fellow Australian Emma Jackson was second.
There was also a surprise winner in the men's Noosa triathlon, with unheralded Queenslander David Dellow claiming victory in an hour 46 minutes and 36 seconds, ahead of fellow Australians Paul Matthews and James Seear.
