The defending champion Hayden Roulston and his Calder Stewart BikeNZ team have taken out the opening prologue of the Tour of Southland cycle race in Invercargill.
The favourites pipped the Powernet team by almost four and a half seconds to win the team time trial, with PureBlack Racing more than four seconds further behind in third.
Roulston will wear the yellow jersey on Monday morning's 160-kilometre stage to Lumsden.
The Tour of Southland runs until Saturday.
