Barca and Milan make Champions League knockout stage

12:25 pm on 3 November 2011

The defending champions Barcelona and former champs AC Milan have both reached the last 16 of football's Champions League.

But English Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea will have to wait to secure qualification.

Arsenal needed to beat Marseille to book their place in the knockout phase but they were held to a goalless draw.

Chelsea were held to a 1-1 draw at Belgian club, although Valencia's 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen meant Chelsea wouldn't have been able to qualify in any case.

Spanish giants Barcelona beat Czech Republic champions Viktoria Plzen 4-0 in Prague while Milan drew 1-1 with Belarusians BATE Borisov in Minsk.
