Joseph disappointed only two Otago players in Highlanders

The Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph says it's disappointing that only two Otago players made his Super 15 team but says it's the reality of franchise contracting.

Joseph revealed his squad for next season on Wednesday and the signing of England loose foward James Haskell was the major talking point.

The 26-year-old Haskell was part of the England squad at the World Cup and will join the Highlanders after a stint at Japan's Ricoh Black Rams - where All Black Ma'a Nonu is also playing during a sabbatical.

Joseph says having more players with Otago roots would be ideal but says getting the best team is the priority.
