The world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic has been beaten 2-6 7-6 6-0 by unseeded Kei Nishikori of Japan in the semi-finals of the Basel Open.
The Serb says he had been troubled by a shoulder injury as he lost for only the fourth time on the ATP circuit this year.
Nishikori, a wildcard entrant romped through the final set as Djokovic, who received treatment on his shoulder between games, lost heart.
In the second semi-final, the defending champion Roger Federer beat his Olympic gold medal-winning doubles partner Stanislas Wawrinka 7-6 6-2.
Federer, now the world number four and playing his first tournament since the US Open, will attempt to win only his second title of the season following Doha in January.
