Tigers down Taipans in Melbourne

6:05 am on 7 November 2011

The Tigers used a 14-nil first quarter scoring run to set up a comfortable 80-63 victory over the off-target Cairns Taipans in their Australian National Basketball League clash in Melbourne and climb to the top of the competition ladder.

Cairns import Jamar Wilson scored the first two points of the game to give the Snakes a very early lead, but the Tigers then reeled off the next 14 points to take the match by the scruff of the neck.

By quarter time, the Tigers led 26-9 and by the end of the first half the home side had established a 45-23 buffer as the Taipans suffered through an horrific shooting night from beyond the arc.

The win lifts the Tigers to 5-1 this season and equal with the New Zealand Breakers at the top of the ANBL table.
