Vettori enjoyed not being captain

The New Zealand cricketer Daniel Vettori says he enjoyed playing his first Test since resigning from the captaincy.

Vettori, who also retired from ODIs and Twenty20 internationals, joined the Black Caps squad in Zimbabwe after the limited-over series, taking eight wickets in their 34-run win.

Vettori says missing the one-dayers may have had a role in his performance as he felt a lot fresher.

Vettori told Cricinfo not being captain takes a bit of stress off his performance, with the fact that he can just worry about himself and hopefully help out some of the younger guys.
