Rugby League Park near Addington will be the temporary home ground for a number of Christchurch sporting codes next year, including the Crusaders.
The Government has announced a $20 million package to help develope the ground in time for the Super Rugby season.
The Crusaders and Canterbury ITM Cup teams were forced to play away from AMI Stadium this year after it suffered structural problems during the earthquakes.
The new 17-thousand capacity ground will also host an All Black test against Ireland in June.
The ground will also host league and football matches as well as concerts and festival events.
