Djokovic turns up in Paris for bonus

7:43 am on 10 November 2011

The world tennis number one Novak Djokovic has shrugged off a recent shoulder problem to pocket a 1.6 million dollar bonus just before turning up at the Paris Masters.

Djokovic then made short work of his Croatian opponents Ivan Dodig to win their secodn round match 6-4 6-3.

An ATP rule designed to entice top players to take part in top events states that as world number one, Djokovic is entitled to a $2 million bonus if the plays in all eight Masters tournaments.

The bonus drops to $1.6 million if he misses one, which he did by skipping last month's Shanghai event because of injury.
