The unbeaten world welterweight boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Junior has offered to pay for the funeral of former heavyweight champion Joe Frazier.

The 67 year old Frazier died who died earlier this week of liver cancer had struggled financially after his boxing career ended and made public appearances to earn income.

Meanwhile the tributes continue to flow for Frazier, the first fighter to beat the incomparable Muhammad Ali with whom he had three epic battles in the 1970s.

The flamboyant promoter Don King who put together the so called Thriller in Manilla fight in 1975 between Frazier and Ali says Frazier was a true American hero.
