Adelaide beat Gold Coast to climb to sixth

Winger Iain Ramsay revived Adelaide United's flagging A-League football season with the match-winner in a 2-1 triumph over Gold Coast on Friday night.

Ramsay's deft finish delivered Adelaide a game-breaking goal and just their second win of the season.

Adelaide midfielder Zenon Caravella earlier scored against his old club, before unluckily equalising for Gold Coast with an own goal.

Gold Coast effectively sold the encounter, playing a nominal home match on Adelaide's turf at Hindmarsh Stadium.

The fixture attracted only 6,368 spectators, and the result left Gold Coast in a lower ladder logjam.

The Reds leapt from ninth to equal sixth with Ramsay and Caravella playing pivotal roles.

Adelaide's next fixture is a clash with the Wellington Phoenix at Eden Park on Saturday afternoon.
