The former top rugby administrator who claims that two All Blacks used steroids during the 1990s says it would be too risky for the current crop of New Zealand rugby players to take performance enhancing drugs.

Jack Ralston, who was the New Zealand Rugby Union's head of sales and marketing between 1997-99, made the steroid abuse claims in his biography The Sports Insider but does not name the men.

He says he doubts it would be happening in the modern game, with the technology and protocols used for testing athletes now incredibly robust.
