Local golfer Greg Chalmers has won the Australian Open by one shot ahead of his compatriot John Senden - while a late charge from Tiger Woods wasn't quite enough at The Lakes.
Chalmers won his second Stonehaven Cup in Sydney, 13 years after the first, with a coolly-taken three under par 69 for 13 under overall.
Chalmer's final round featured five birdies and two bogeys - Woods actually bettered the West Australian with the same record, but the American former world number one adding an eagle into his five-under 67.
Still that wasn't enough after a poor three over round on Saturday, Woods finishing third behind Senden.
The overnight leader endured a horror start to his final round, with four bogeys in his front nine. But Senden rallied with four birdies on the back nine to almost force a playoff on the final hole, narrowly missing a birdie putt to finish second with a par score of 72.
Fellow Australian and contender Jason Day fell away with five bogeys and three birdies for a two over 74 and a five-way share of fourth with Geoff Ogilvy, Adam Scott, Nick Watney.
The lone New Zealander in the field, Gareth Paddison, carded a one over 73 for a share of 58th - third from bottom.
