The Czech tennis star Petra Kvitova has been voted the WTA player of the year.
The 21-year-old, also voted most improved player, won six titles in all including Wimbledon, her first grand slam crown, and the end of season WTA championships .
She rose from 34 in the world in January to end the season second behind Caroline Wozniacki and also led the Czech Republic to a Fed Cup win over Russia.
